How PORCH Works

PORCH is built around the simple idea of a neighborhood food drive. Here’s how it works:

Once a month, on collection day, leave your food donations on your front porch or at the designated front porch (or garage) in your neighborhood.

Volunteer Neighborhood Coordinators organize the collections, and then transport the donated food by car to one of our local food pantries.

PORCH for Pantries

Local pantries are a critical lifeline for families who struggle to put food on the table. Each month, Neighborhood Coordinators volunteering with PORCH Pinecrest collect non-perishable items from local porches and then sort the items before delivering them to our community’s pantries. These pantries serve some of our most vulnerable neighbors, who are likely to also face challenges related to affordable housing, transportation and child care.

We serve the following food pantries:

Mau’s Angels

PORCH for Schools

No child should struggle to focus in school because they are hungry, and teachers should not have to spend their own personal funds to buy snacks for their students. That’s why PORCH Pinecrest partners with local businesses and individuals to sponsor a healthy snack program for children in public schools.  If you are interested in becoming a PORCH for Schools sponsor, reach out for more information.
