About PORCH
Meredith College
PORCH Meredith College is an all-volunteer hunger relief organization. We collect food and cash donations through monthly neighborhood food drives and deliver the contributions to the on-campus food pantry to assist students experiencing food insecurity.
Food insecurity among college students has emerged as a critical issue, exacerbated by shifts in student demographics, including more first-generation, nontraditional, and minority students, including those at Meredith College.
This problem threatens students’ well-being and academic success, often leading to poor performance or withdrawal from school. Addressing food insecurity is vital to ensuring students’ basic needs are met. Meredith College is partnering with PORCH to sustain an effective food security program. These actionable steps will enhance food security for students.
Each PORCH is part of PORCH Communities, a national movement empowering neighbors to fight hunger through local action.
