Setting out to
fight hunger

What We DoGet Involved

PORCH Fearrington is Fearrington Village’s all-volunteer, grassroots hunger relief organization. We collect food and cash donations through monthly neighborhood food drives and deliver the contributions to the CORA FOOD PANTRY, which provides emergency food to individuals and families in Chatham County, NC.

Programs

CORA’s SNACK!

CORA’s SNACK! (Summer Nutritional Assistance for Chatham Kids) program distributes food to more than 1,500 kids who depend upon free or reduced cost meals at school during the school year, but who have little or no replacement for this nutrition when school is not in session. SNACK!’s goal is to increase the accessibility of nutritious meals throughout the summer to children facing food insecurity in Chatham County.   SNACK! provides each participating child with 21 nutritious meals each week mid-June through mid-August. In summer 2020, we served 1,144 children more than 128,000 meals

Mobile Market

In October 2019, CORA launched our Mobile Market in Siler City. Using our six-pallet truck, we set up for distribution at Technology Way the fourth Tuesday of each month. Due to COVID-19 we are currently distributing food via a drive-through model. Families stay in their car and pre-packed groceries are placed in their vehicle. Each person receives enough food for 21 meals at each visit. In 2020, we served more 3,471 individuals at our Mobile Markets.
